Stephen Thomas 1953-2005

Businessman, yachtsman and mountaineer Stephen Thomas was killed in an accident in the Antarctic on 13th January 2005.

Stephen Thomas worked in senior management roles in the IT industry for over 20 years specializing in the management and development of high growth technology organizations. He was Engineering Director of a major engineering software vendor, Cambridge Interactive Systems, for 10 years and then VP for Products and Technology for Madge Networks, a NASDAQ-listed and highly successful vendor of computer networking equipment for 6 years. He joined Geneva Technology as CEO in April 1998 and remained until August 2002 after the company had merged with Convergys Corporation.

Stephen was also a keen sailor and explorer.  His many adventures included sailing round the world with his family from 1995 to 1997 and sailing from 80°N to 65°S over the last 2 years.  He also climbed a number of peaks around the world on his many expeditions.
